Another challenging piece from the groundbreaking 'Beano' album, 'Key to Love' includes a fiery solo with tricky bends and some great rhythm guitar. Make sure you listen closely to the beat and keep the rhythm guitar tight. Any wandering and it will quickly start to sound sloppy.
When you get onto the solo, it can be a bit confusing until you have it fully committed to memory. The picking and the fingering can be awkward at first, but practice slowly and keep at it. Don't feel you must stick slavishly to the way I have approached either of those in the videos. If you find a better way or an approach that is more effective then do it. As long as you get the sound we're after, that's fine.
As with all of these tutorials, keep referring back to the record. Phrasing, timing, accuracy of bends. And, of course, if you don't already have a copy of "Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton", do yourself a favour and get it!
I have provided an Amazon link at the foot of this page. Please note that any subsequent purchase would generate a small commission for My Blues Guitar - but at no extra cost to you.
Good luck with your playing!
