When Eric first joined John Mayall's Bluesbreakers he played a Fender Telecaster with a rosewood neck and a body that had been stripped back to the wood. No doubt it served him well, but within a very short time he bought his first sunburst Gibson Les Paul Standard, with which he went on to change the sound of blues, rock and popular music forever.
