Gibson Les Paul Standard, ‘Beano’

Acquired by Eric in 1965 and stolen from an early Cream rehearsal about a year later, the 'Beano' guitar is so called because it is the guitar that can be heard on 'Blues Breakers John Mayall with Eric Clapton', a.k.a. The Beano album.

It has long been thought to be a 1960 Les Paul, chiefly because both Eric and Peter Green have made special mention of its slim neck, but until the guitar itself is 'found' or a receipt comes to light, there is nothing to rule out the possibility of its being a 1958 or a '59.
