After Eric's first Les Paul, the 'Beano' guitar, was stolen, he used a few borrowed guitars until persuading his friend, Andy Summers (later of The Police) to sell his own sunburst Les Paul.
Unlike the 'Beano', the 'Andy Summers' Les Paul can be dated without doubt to 1960, because of the non-faded sunburst finish, reflector knobs and double-ring tuners.
